Every air tank and air system must by law have a safety valve to protect components from being over pressurized and failing to potentially become an explosive hazard to anyone in close proximity.

These factory set safety valves are generally suitable for single phase compressors and automotive air systems to release excess air to atmosphere at the point that the set pressure is reached.

Safety valve pressure setting should be above maximum system operating pressure but below the maximum component or tank pressure.
